Professor David March receives prestigious Duchess of Cornwall award from the UK National Osteoporosis Society

During a Garden Party at Clarence House on 12th July, hosted by the Duchess of Cornwall to celebrate 30 years of the National Osteoporosis Society, The Duchess of Cornwall Award was presented to Professor David Marsh, Emeritus Professor of Orthopaedics at University College London. The Duchess of Cornwall Award recognises outstanding contributions to the field of osteoporosis, and there have been two previous winners. Professor Marsh has a long career as an orthopaedic surgeon and has been heavily involved in the fight against the osteoporosis and improving the outcome for people who sustain fragility fractures.

Professor David Marsh was for many years Chair of the UK National Action Network (ARMA) of the Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health (formerly Bone & Joint Decade) and is now President.  He is an Ambassador of the Global Alliance and was the first Chair of the Fragility Fracture Network (FFN), a network initiated by the Bone & Joint Decade. Under his leadership the FFN has grown into the success we see today, an organisation with a vision of a world where anybody who sustains a fragility fracture achieves the optimal recovery of independent function and quality of life, with no further fractures.
