UN declares 2021-30 as the Decade of Healthy Ageing
G-MUSC welcomes the United Nations General Assembly declaring 2021-2030 as the Decade of Healthy Ageing.
It is “an opportunity to bring together governments, civil society, international agencies, professionals, academia, the media, and the private sector for ten years of concerted, catalytic and collaborative action to improve the lives of older people, their families, and the communities in which they live.”
The goal of the Decade is to optimise older people’s functional ability, which combines the intrinsic capacity of the individual, the environment a person lives in and how people interact with their environment.
WHO and UN partners are seeking inputs from all interested stakeholders to help build a collaborative Platform where all knowledge on ageing can be accessed, shared, and produced in one place ̶ by anyone, anywhere in the world.
