Launched this year by the pediatric specialities Group of the USBJI (US. Bone & Joint Initiative) and championed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.
The first World PB&J Day will take place October 19, 2012. As part of the Bone and Joint Action Week this years theme will focus on children and vitamin D deficiency.
World PB&J Day seek to highlight the impact of musculoskeletal conditions on children and educate health care provider and the public about children’s musculoskeletal health issues.
- Nearly 48% of adults have a musculoskeletal condition, many of which begin in childhood
- Children represent 10% of the population with a disabling musculoskeletal condition
